Sat 25th April - Tamworth Castle Grounds parkrun

Course Description

The course is run on a mixture of concrete and tarmac paths. It consists of two laps; the majority is flat with one small incline and decline. The route provides views of both the rivers Anker and Tame, the Castle, and the Snow Dome, as well as passing all the planets in our solar system. The start and finish are located close to the skate park and tennis courts on the main thoroughfare through the centre of the park.

Facilities

There are toilets in the castle grounds. These are free to use and open from 8am on Saturdays and have accessible facilities.

Location of start

The event starts close to the skate park and tennis court.

Getting there by road

The Jolly Sailor car park is approached from all directions by taking the Bonehill Road exit off the Jolly Sailor roundabout, which is adjacent to Ventura Retail Park.

From the M42 take the A5 bypass to the Ventura Retail Park exit, cross the first roundabout, and take the 3rd exit at the Jolly Sailor roundabout onto Bonehill Road, with the Beefeater on your right-hand side, proceed to the bottom of the road and bear right onto Fazeley Road, the car park entrance is on your left.

From the M6 toll/A5 bearing east, take the A5 bypass and follow the above directions from the Ventura Retail Park exit.

From the A38 take the A513 and follow signs for Tamworth, having passed Tamworth railway station follow the A51 Ankerdrive and Riverdrive to the Jolly Sailor roundabout and take the 4th exit onto Bonehill Road.

Several car parks are available in Tamworth town centre. We recommend the Jolly Sailor car park (B78 3JJ) as this is a short walk from the start/finish area. Alternatives are Holloway and Riverdrive. From the car park cross the green bridge over the river Tame, and take the path between the old swimming pool building and the bowling alley towards the start/finish area, at this point you will be walking along part of the course. We do not recommend parking in the bowling alley car park due to parking charges.

Further details

If you have a club shirt please wear this, and we will do a group photo at 8.45am, near the start line.

As normal we will cheer all club members home, and if your still energetic after your run, it would be nice to run back and support others.

Many attendees will go for breakfast afterwards, for those who are coming along we will be going to Wetherspoons, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the venue.

Many thanks,

DC
