Saturday 14th June - Sixfields Upton parkrun
Please join us at Upton parkrun in Sixfields, Northampton for a club parkrun event in June (rearranged from May, as it got cancelled by the parkrun). Come along with fellow members of DRR and undertake (or watch) a 5k on a Saturday morning. This parkrun is only around 20 minutes away. The more people that come along, the better the atmosphere and encouragement we can offer to not only fellow members but also all parkrunners that attend.
We have been invited to do this visit with the option of going to Valerie Owen's home after for food and drinks. Valerie, lives in Kislingbury, and there is a very nice 1.7 mile run/walk from her house to & from the parkrun. There is plenty of parking at Valarie's house, or you can park at Sixfields.
When you sign up for this run, you can add notes, just let us know if you are just meeting us for the parkrun, or coming back to Valerie's after so she can plan.
I will put details of the parkrun next, with the extra details for meeting at/going back to valarie's at the bottom.
Getting There: Sixfields stadium is indicated by brown signs from the M1 motorway and on all major routes in the area. The stadium postcode is NN5 5QA and will allow sat nav users to find the area. The Sixfields stadium can be found at the junction of A4500 and A5076.
Parking: Parking is provided courtesy of Cineworld and TGI Fridays on the Sixfields leisure complex. No parking is provided on site and we are asked not to park in the local streets to avoid nuisance to residents.
Toilets: Toilet facilities are not available on site. The nearest are at MacDonalds.
If you have a club shirt please wear this, and we will do a group photo at 8.45am, near the start line.
As normal we will cheer all club members home, and if you're still energetic after your run, it would be nice to run back and support others.
Course Description: The course starts with a fast flat straight and then follows a mixed terrain pathway toward the river and follows round through farm gates. The course continues through a working farm and then re-enters the parkland through a narrow gate. The course then loops back toward the start before following out for a second lap. The final lap involves a small extra loop behind a brick building before the finishing straight.
Surface: The course is run entirely on trail path (road shoes are ideal).
Food after: We will be getting food at the cafe in Upton park after the parkrun has finished.
Details from Valarie:
Hi all
Those of you that are planning on doing Sixfields Parkrun on Saturday are as you know invited to my house after for refreshments.
As I am only 1.7 miles from the Parkrun start it .. there is an opportunity to park and run to /from Upton Park from my home in Kislingbury if you you’d like as it’s a very nice route.
If you wish to do this please arrive at mine shortly after 8am park on my drive or the verge outside my home .. the route is up Camp Lane and then crossing at the pelican crossing into Upton Park .
It is very easy but my husband will be running the route gently to show anyone who needs guiding he will be leaving at 8.10 am .. there will be access to toilets until 8.20 when I will be driving myself ( and anyone else who wants a lift to/from Sixfields.
My address is The Old Granary 8 Camp Lane Kislingbury NN74BJ .. if you have family members etc who are not club members who want to come that’s fine by me too but if you could indicate numbers wanting refreshments for catering purposes this would help me along with any dietary allergy requirements..
Many thanks Val!
