Arthur parkrun - 30/10/2025 Overview

(Or half a parkrun rather)

This session will be focused around an effort over half a parkrun, so 2.5k (or 1.55 miles). Ideal for those that are looking at the Endure Relay event in March 2026. This will be an ideal session to set a benchmark, and see where you are at on 1 fresh effort at the distance equivalent to 1 lap.

Meeting at the Icon car park, the first 25 minutes will be a steady run to get warm and ready. Heading up the black path. and onto Heartlands Industrial Estate. We will then reconvene at 18:55 where Newnham Drive and Farnborough Drive intersect (near the top end of the black path starts). I will put a link to the route before the session, so hopefully everyone knows where this is.

The half a parkrun effort then starts at 19:00 on the dot, and goes down the black path to the Icon. Note that we will not cross Welton Road at the end of the black path (e.g. to where the parkrun briefing takes place), but instead finish our effort by staying on the same side of the road, and turning steadily right and up Welton Road. I will try to be at that point to give everyone an exact time as the cross the finish line, where I will be stood.

Please be very aware when crossing Shackleton Drive. This road often has cars coming either way on it, and the chosen route must cross it. I know this is an effort and you want to post the best time you can, but please slow down, and wait until it is safe to cross this road. It may cost you a few seconds, but this is better than increasing the serious risk that being inconsiderate of traffic will cause. Take your time, catch your breathe, and you will probably make up some of those seconds lost over the remaining distance of the course.
