Sat 18th February - Buckingham parkrun
Course Description
The course is a “lollypop” shape that involves an out section, two laps of a circuit, and a return section. We like to say ‘you run out on the stick, lick the lollypop twice, and then run back along the stick’!
The run starts next to the Bridge Street Skate Park, on the north side of the River Great Ouse. Runners take the first left turn and follow the path east through Heartlands, before a left turn descends gradually to a wooden bridge by the football ground. Turning right after the bridge, towards Bourton Park, the course follows the River Great Ouse for several hundred metres, past some play areas before bearing right. Runners will then embark on an anti clockwise loop, which begins by following the river before going around the basketball courts and children’s playground before rejoining the path by the river. This circuit must be completed a second time, with runners then retracing their steps to the finish line.
Facilities
The Cornwalls Meadow car park is adjacent to the Meadow Walk shopping centre that has loads of cafes, shops, restaurants, a Gelateria, specialist stores and a large Waitrose. There are free toilets available in Cornwalls Meadow car park. Please arrive early as the queue can get quite long.
Location of start
The run starts at the bollards next to the Bridge Street Skate Park, on the north side of the River Great Ouse.
Getting there by road
Buckingham is a relatively small town, with the start of the route located just off the High Street. The Cornwalls Meadow Car Park, accessed via the High Street, is a 324 space car park near to the start. Parking costs 70p for 3 hours. The post code for sat navs is MK18 1RP.
The A422 runs through the town east/west, while the A413 and London Road can both be used to get to the car park from the A421 which goes around the south side of Buckingham.
Further details
If you have a club shirt please wear this, and we will do a group photo at 8.45am, near the start line.
As normal we will cheer all club members home, and if your still energetic after your run, it would be nice to run back and support others.
Many attendees will go for breakfast afterwards. We are still looking for a venue for this, and will let members/attendees booked on know once we decide on this.
Many thanks,
DC
